USA Hockey Silver Goalie Education Course Comes to St. Louis
The Blues were very proud to host USA Hockey in St. Louis this past weekend, as the USA Hockey Silver goalie education seminar and on-ice instruction took place at Centene Community Ice Center.
Despite the snowy weather, the weekend-long event benefitted a number of coaches and young goaltenders alike. The event featured a combination of on-ice and off-ice instruction, as the coaches developed in the classroom, in addition to being on the ice at Centene, where 60 local youth goaltenders also had the opportunity to take the ice for training.
There were multiple special guests throughout the week, as the group was joined by the Blues Director of Goaltending David Alexander and Team USA Olympic gold medalist, Alex Cavallini. Both were able to share their goaltending expertise to all of the coaches and players in attendance.
The exciting event was capped off at Enterprise Center on Saturday night, as the Blues took on the Los Angeles Kings. During the second intermission of the game, we were able to have a special scrimmage featuring a Team USA vs. Team Canada goalie matchup. To make this even more unique, both teams wore specialty pads: Team Canada's featured Jordan Binnington's 4 Nations Faceoff pad design while Team USA rocked the design worn by Alex Cavallini at the 2022 Winter Olympics.
